Alan Shoji Morita

Alan S. Morita, age 67, succumbed to cancer on March 21, 2022 with his family by his side. Alan fought with everything he had up until his last breath.

Alan was a native of Sacramento and graduated from C.K. McClatchy High School in 1972. He was a part of the wrestling team and was selected for the All Metro Boys Wrestling Team. Alan was among the 8% of boy scouts who earned an Eagle Scout award, scouting’s highest honor. Alan attended U.C. Berkeley and received a BS in Biology in 1976, and subsequently earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 1979 from the University of the Pacific.

Alan worked as a pharmacy manager at Kaiser Permanente for 25 years and was known by his colleagues for his support, hard work and dedication. After retiring from Kaiser, Alan worked for the State of California at the Department of Health Services until 2021.

Alan was a lifelong fan of the San Francisco Giants, and enjoyed all things Disney, Marvel and Star Wars. He traveled extensively, including visits to Europe, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Italy, and French Polynesia. Other hobbies included building Legos and models, watching food shows, Korean dramas and anime, and spending time with his family.

Alan was the loving son of the late George and Bette Morita and is survived by his children, Michael (Maya) and Lauren; grandchildren Nico and Wes; siblings Priscilla, Richard and Judy; dogs Yuki and Roxy, and extended family and friends.

Alan will be remembered for his kind nature, dry sense of humor, and selfless devotion to his family.
