Kate Anna Bokan
Kate Anna Bokan, 98, of Sacramento passed away at home on April 1, 2022. She was born in 1923 to Stephen and Mary Parun in Pittsburg, CA. Kate was raised in Antioch, CA with her eight siblings. Kate graduated from Antioch High School and worked as a bookkeeper until her marriage to Anthony Bokan in 1945. Kate resided in the same home she and Anthony had built in 1950.
Kate is survived by her three children: Bill (Norene), Jane (Ronald), and Wendy. Kate was predeceased by her loving husband, Anthony, brothers Bill and Fred, and sisters Verna and Virginia. She is survived by her brother, Steve; and three sisters; Agnes, Mary, and Dolores. Kate loved being grandma to Michael (Leticia), Philip (Rebekah), and Katie (Beat). She was proud of them and the wonderful, loving adults they had become. Their visits always brought big smiles to her face. Kate felt blessed to also have 9 great-grandchildren: Alex, Audrey, Amelia, Samantha, Elvis, Maverick, Duke, Dolly, and Silvia. Her heart was filled with joy every time they visited. She also enjoyed her many nephews and nieces and the frequent family parties.
Her family was her number one priority. However, she found time to work as a bookkeeper from age 50-90 in the family business. The work kept her mind active and she enjoyed it. Kate was an active member of the Ameltha Club and Holy Spirit Altar Society for years. She was also a 4-H, Camp Fire Girls, and Blue Birds parent leader. Kate was active as a Sutter Union School parent volunteer during the time her three children attended what is now John Cabrillo School.
Gardening was her passion and she loved to walk in her garden and explain the plantings. For years, Kate enjoyed her fruit trees and flowers with each passing season. She was a huge fan of the Oakland A’s and rarely missed a televised game.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Sacramento Food Bank.
