Anita “Nana” Betancourt

Anita Marie Borja Betancourt A.K.A “Nana” left this world and entered heaven’s gates on January 18th 2023. She was born on July 15th 1963 in Huston, Texas to Lee Allen Langley and Amelia Borja and adopted by Ignacio B. Borja. At the age of 13 her family moved to Sacramento where she would stay and start her adult life. Anita was an amazing wife, mother, auntie, sister and sister in-law and friend. Those who knew her would say she is the life of the party and knew how to make everyone live life to the fullest.

Anita is widowed by her late husband Juan Alfredo Betancourt, survived by her children Linda Betancourt (Yoyo), Rudy Betancourt (Jordan) and Juan Betancourt II. Grandchildren DJ Graves, Alyssa Rousseau, Isaiah, Angelia and Ezra Betancourt. Great Grandson Cyrill Joseph Rousseau V. Siblings Patricia (Philip) Quidachay, the late Gladys (Jose) Gacayan and the late Krik (Lora) Langley. Niece and Nephew from Patricia Afton Alba and John Alba II. Nephews from Gladys; Christopher, Nicolas, Gabriel and Brandon Gacayan. Along with various Nieces and Nephews.

Anita graduated from Foothill High School in 1982. Anita began her state career with the Employment Development Department in March 1994; In March 1996 she would be transferred to the Department of Transportation. December 18th 2000 she was transferred to California Highway Patrol as an Office Assistant working in the Special Representative Office, she would be than transferred to Fiscal Management Section on February 15th 2005. Anita would than be promoted to an Executive Secretary in the Office of the Commissioner on June 6th 2005, until March 31st 2009, at which time she would be transferred to the Assistant Commissioners Staff on April 1st 2009. Anita than would be transferred to Administrative Services Division on May 11th 2009 and than would go on to retires from state service on February 28th 2022.

In life Anita enjoyed dancing at various family gatherings or parties, traveling to annual powwows hosted by the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana where she was a proud tribal member, gambling slot machines (where you could find her partnered with her 2 sisters) or shopping for purses and clothing. Anita was also known as Princess from her loving husband Juan who both had a love for the Disney movie Beauty and the Beast.

Anita will be missed but she will never be forgotten cause she had a personality like no other. She loved many and will be missed by family and loved ones.
