Virginia Pearl Harford
Virginia Pearl Harford, better known as Ginger, passed away in Rancho Cucamonga, California on April 1, 2022 surrounded by family.
Ginger was born to Borge Otto and Goldie Louella Jahnsen, on December 27, 1944 in Sacramento, California. Ginger is the youngest child of two kids, growing up in the Arden area of Sacramento. Ginger was a fun loving child who always had a smile on her face and was everyone’s friend in elementary school. She attended Howe Elementary in the 1950s and then attended Encina High School where she graduated in 1962. Following graduating from high school while on a date with another guy she met a talkative guy who she fell in love with. After a short courtship they would marry with family all watching on. Shortly after the wedding Bob was sent to Vietnam, she spent those two year going to school and working at a local bank. Once she graduated she found work in a large firm as an executive assistant. In 1971 her greatest role of her life would start, that of mom when her son was born. Tony was the most important thing to Ginger and she soon discovered that her hours at work were keeping her away from her son. She then went back to school to become a real estate agent giving her more time at home while still making a good living for her family. Her little family of three spent most weekends together on adventures around California with family and close friends. In the 1980s Bob and Ginger discovered sailing on Folsom Lake and they soon bought their own boat. From there her life changed, they would explore all the delta and helped to form the Andreas Cove Yacht Club. Ginger was big in helping others and could always be called on to help whenever there was a need. This volunteer work is one of the ways that Ginger met so many new people who would become family. Ginger’s family started to grow when her son got married in 2001 and grandchildren soon followed. Ginger loved spending time with her three grandkids whenever she got the chance. Family was the most important thing to Ginger and she would do anything for someone she called family. Virginia lived her entire life in the Sacramento Area.
Ginger married Robert, the love of his life in 1963 in Carson City, Nevada; who predeceased her by 46 days. They had one son Robert in 1971 who they raised in the Arden Arcade area of Sacramento. Ginger is survived by her son Tony and his wife Michele, as well as her grandchildren Naomi, Alyssa, and Zachary. Ginger was predeceased by her parents Bill, Goldie, and her brother Don.
The family would like people to make donations in support of Leukemia Lymphoma Society or the Alzheimer’s Association, in lieu of sending flowers.
